It should allow you to communicate useful information to your niche market / target audience.

In general people searching for the services of a professional, tradesman or business will either do their searches through the Yellow Pages (yell.com) or through the internet. The Yellow Pages can provide useful information but a website can provide more specific information - information about a particular business, it's services offered, rates and details of experiences of its staff. Providing this level of detailed information to a consumer - whether they live locally or in another part of the country - can make the difference to the survival of your business.

For startups and small businesses, Branding should always be the main consideration as a company's brand is most often the key to its success. A clear identity will appeal to your target audience effectively communicating your position.

A brand is your company's first impression to the world. It's the company's name and visually expressed through a logo.

A brand is also how the company is presented to its target audience.

Search engines constantly use "spiders or Robots" across the web. These programs look at 100's of millions of websites daily for keywords or phrases that have been typed into the search engines. Pages that the spiders / bots recognise as containing relevant words and content are recorded on their database of links. These database's rank websites according to their relevancy to each specific search word or phrase. This is why you come across the phrase SEO so often when looking to improve your websites presence.

Search engines view websites on importantance and relevance based on several factors. Most of all is the amount of content itself which the site contains. The more content on a site, the better it is considered to be. This is hand-in-hand with another important factor, the amount of sites which link to the website. This link exchanging is important because it helps to identify what other websites consider an important website is. Link exchanging is an important factor to boosting an SEO rating.

Social network sites were once the playground of people looking for friendship or relationships on the internet, but soon savvy businesses realized the value of linking up with people through the wide variety of networks that were appearing almost daily. They then learned how easily they could keep in touch with clients, suppliers, and others.

The Social Networking benefits to business are massive, and any business that takes advantage of this tool will faster see better exposure very quickly. Social networking is in many ways "the way forward" - at least for now!
